Connor Rowe went 2-for-4 with a two-run triple and a two-run single as the Lake Monsters won 7-4 at Staten Island on Sunday in their season-finale. Blake Kelso went 2-for-5 to finish with a team-high .309 average. Vermont ends the 2010 season with a 36-38 record.
The Lake Monsters scored five runs in the third inning for a 7-2 victory at Staten Island on Saturday in the second game of a doubleheader after the Yankees took the opener 3-1. Jason Martinson was 2-for-2 with a two-run double, while Chad Mozingo was 3-for-4 with a run and RBI in the win.
Staten Island snapped a 4-4 tie with a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning and went on to beat the Lake Monsters 7-4 in the opener of a four-game series to end the regular-season. Russell Moldenhauer was 2-for-5 with 2 runs, while Blake Kelso and Connor Rowe both had two hits.
Catcher David Freitas was named the 2010 Tom Racine MVP Award winner in voting by Lake Monsters fans. Freitas set a new Vermont record with a 21-game hitting streak earlier this season and also won the Home Run Derby at the New York-Penn League All-Star Game.
The Lake Monsters home finale on August 27th was played in front of a season-best 4,217 fans, the largest Vermont home crowd since 2005. The Lake Monsters drew 88,340 overall (2,524 per games) to historic Centennial Field during the regular-season.
The 2010 season has been another successful year for the "Share The Experience" program at historic Centennial Field. The financial support of many individuals and companies throughout Vermont have partnered up with the Lake Monsters to give out tickets to organizations in the community.
